"Do you hear the people sing
Lost in the valley of the night? It is the music of a people Who are climbing to the light... They will live again in freedom in the Garden of the Lord." |
Worship at Broadway is always a unique and creative experience. This Lenten series was no exception!
Lent is a six week season beginning with the penitent worship service of Ash Wednesday and continuing to Resurrection Easter Sunday. Lent includes Holy Week considerations of darkness before the dawn, suffering and crucifixion prior to resurrection, as well as struggles and trials prior to freedom and new life. One of the greatest books ever written, Les Miserables, has been made into 14 films, a television series, and a stage musical. Its story of law and grace, oppression and freedom, death and life offers themes and messages that fit well with the themes and messages of Lent: This spectacular narrative by Victor Hugo helps illuminate the grace, redemption, and freedom offered by the even more spectacular life, death, and triumph of Christ! |
