To visit Sedalia around the time of its founding in 1865, one could take a train, board a covered wagon, or sign-on to any of the many cattle drives pushing north from Texas.
Broadway Presbyterian Church's roots were first planted in Sedalia by pioneer preacher Rev. John Montgomery. Amid the rough energy of dusty rail travelers and trail-hardened cowboys, Rev. Montgomery rode into town to proclaim the Gospel of Christ with a uniquely Presbyterian and Scottish flair.
Our old 1876 bell still rings every Sunday.
In 2015, our sesquicentennial year included mission projects of monthly "150s" (150 books donated, 150 cans of food collected, etc.), sermons that drew on past messages from the history of Broadway Church's pastors, a Saturday carnival, a reunion lunch retrospective, and our commemorative Christmas ornament. What a celebration!
