More from Lucy...
Born and raised in Sedalia by my parents, and alongside my brother, I grew up with the love and guidance of the Broadway Presbyterian family. Still an active BPC member, I am grateful to now share these important relationships with my own family.
After graduating from Smith-Cotton High School, life led me into the woods and away from my hometown to attend the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH. There, I studied music, theatre, art, and religion with a focus on musical theatre performance. During college, I performed with the Wooster Chorus and spent a summer working in Dublin, Ireland. I continued my studies at the American Music and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), a musical theatre conservatory in New York City. After years of enjoying the energy of the city and the life of an actor, I emerged out of the woods to return home to Sedalia.
I began my career at BPC Preschool in 2001 as a substitute teacher, which then led to becoming a full time teacher, and then Preschool Director in 2004. I am now driven to provide the best early childcare experience for our students and their families with the hope of imparting a lifelong love of learning. Striving to lead by example, I continue to be a learner by attending workshops and conferences for professional educators and by taking college courses in child development and early education. I am a member of the Christian Early Childcare Association (CECA) of Kansas City, and I am pleased to have started the Early Educators' Fellowship of Faith (EEFF), a local group of early childcare providers.
My love of theatre continues, something I share with my husband, Chris Clark. We met during a community theatre production in 2002 and we continue to participate in local productions as directors and performers when time allows. We also have two preschoolers of our own, Charley and Molly. Now we all spend more time singing and dancing around the house than performing in a theatre.
Using my music and theatre training, I also enjoy teaching various youth theatre and arts programs, providing vocal music instruction, and serving as a clinician for show choir competitions. In my downtime, I enjoy reading mysteries, listening to Irish music, and watching British television programs, and reruns of M*A*S*H.
